Alva Johnson, 82, a retired New Market businessman and former RR Donnelly & Sons Co. employ died this morning in a Ladoga nuring home. Mr. Johnson owned and operated the New Market Hardware Store for 33 years. He was a 15-year Donnelley employee. He was a 25-year-member of the Indiana Retail Hardware Association, New Market Knights of Pythias Lodge and New Market Business Assocation. A Montgomery County native, he was born Dec 17, 1892 to Ambrose and Susanna Johnson. He was married to Grace Ann Nichols Dec 24, 1914. Surviving are the widwo, two sons, Frank B. of Rt. 7 and Marvin A. of Fresno, Calif; a daughter, Mrs. Ada Adamson of Evansville; 6 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Powers Funeral Home at New Market wit the Rev. Creed Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. The family requests memorials to the Cancer SOciety which may be made at the funeral home. - kbz
